**Opposition Parties Refuse to Legitimize Parliament**
Four opposition parties in Georgia have said they will not give legitimacy to the new parliament and will not take part in it. This means that no one knows who will make a statement about this, whether today or tomorrow – it’s all the same.
The leader of “Unity – National Movement”, Ana Tsitlidze, spoke to journalists about this. She said that they will use all political and legal tools to ensure that this parliament is not legitimate and that the opposition does not participate in it.
Tsitlidze explained that joining the parliament is a political and legal process. They have already applied to the Central Election Commission to cancel the parliamentary lists of other parties, and if the CEC does not agree, they will appeal to the parliament about terminating their authority.
She stressed that the most important thing is that all four opposition parties agree on this decision. “We don‘t attach special importance to small details,” she said. The other positions of the parties “Strong Georgia” and “Happy Georgia” are not important in this situation.
**Background**
On November 12, “Unity – National Movement” and “Coalition for Change” applied to the Central Election Commission with a request to cancel the parliamentary lists of other parties. This shows that they are serious about their decision to refuse legitimacy to the parliament.
