**Russia Advances in Ukraine at Record Pace**
Russian forces have made significant gains in Ukraine, capturing 234.79 square kilometers of land in the past week alone. This is the highest number since 2022 and marks a new weekly record.
According to data from the DeepState monitoring group, Russia has taken control of 600 square kilometers of land since the start of November. This is more than they captured in the entire month of October, setting a new record for the year.
The advance comes at a critical time as Ukraine faces the prospect of decreased US support under Donald Trump’s administration. As president-elect, Trump pledged to bring both sides to the negotiating table, which could weaken Ukraine’s position on the battlefield.
**Key Areas of Advance**
Russian forces have been pushing forward in several key areas, including:
* Velyka Novosilka, a village in southern Donetsk Oblast
* Pokrovsk, a logistics hub in Donetsk Oblast
* Kurakhove, an area near the administrative border with Zaporizhzhia Oblast
In these regions, Russian troops have reportedly captured around 187 square kilometers of land in the south and advanced on key targets.
**Ukrainian Concerns**
Ukrainian officials are increasingly concerned about a possible new Russian push in Zaporizhzhia Oblast. This comes as Russian forces continue to advance in the east, focusing their efforts near Pokrovsk and Kurakhove.
