Germany Gives Ukraine Drones, Not Long-Range Cruise Missiles
Germany is sending drones to Ukraine. These drones are called “Mini–Taurus“. They can be very effective at hitting targets close to the front lines.
Some people thought that these drones might replace a type of long-range missile called Taurus. This missile can hit targets over 500 kilometers away and has a heavy warhead. The Mini-Taurus drones, on the other hand, have a much smaller warhead and can only hit targets within 40-60 kilometers.
Germany has been helping Ukraine by sending military aid. They have also sent Patriot air defense systems that can stop missiles from getting to their target. However, they have not sent the long-range Taurus missiles.
The Mini-Taurus drones are designed to be cheaper than some other types of drones and can resist Russian electronic warfare. They will be delivered in batches until a total of 4,000 are given to Ukraine.
Analysts say that while these drones can be effective for tactical operations, they cannot replace the long-range Taurus missiles. The Mini-Taurus drones are good at hitting armored vehicles close to the front lines, but the Taurus missile is much more powerful and can hit heavily fortified targets from far away.
