Anna Luhrmann is Germany’s Deputy Foreign Minister for European and Climate Issues. She reiterated Germany’s commitment to Georgia’s integration in the European Union while criticizing the Georgian government‘s efforts to create barriers.
Luhrmann said: “It’s quite clear that we support Georgia in its path to join the European Union. However, this does not apply the current Georgian government, which creates barriers to this path.” She stressed that the Georgians must be able to freely decide their future and emphasized the importance of fair and free elections.
Luhrmann also stated that the current situation of Georgia will be discussed at the European Union Foreign Affairs Ministerial Meeting in Luxembourg. Georgia’s public radio translated her comments, originally in German.
