Georgian Fighter Dies

Spartak Lekiashvili, a 25-year-old Georgian man, has died in a hospital. He was injured in Ukraine during the Russian bombing of Bakhmut on May 10, 2023.

Lekiashvili lost his eyesight and ability to move after being hurt. He was first treated in a Ukrainian hospital for a year. His family then brought him to Georgia in the spring of 2024 to continue his treatment. A friend of the family said Lekiashvili received help from the Ukrainian military and government while he was in Ukraine.

Lekiashvili’ mother informed his relatives about his death on November 25. He had been living and working in Poland when the started in Ukraine. He joined an battalion to fight against Russia.

This is the casualty since Russia invaded Ukraine on February , 2022. So , 61 Georgian have died fighting in Ukraine.
