**Serbian Protest Draws 17,000 to 18,000 People**
A large protest march took place in Belgrade on New Year‘s Eve. The event was called “There is No New Year – You Still Owe Us for the Old One.” According to the Archive of Public Gatherings (AoPG), between 17,000 and 18,000 people attended.
The exact number of protesters is not known due to heavy fog that made it difficult to count. The AoPG used area and crowd density assessments to estimate the number of attendees.
Protesters gathered at Students’ Square in Belgrade and surrounding areas covered around 10,000 square meters. This indicates that between 17,000 and 18,000 people were present. A separate concert at Republic Square drew an estimated 5,000 to 6,000 people.
