**Israel Withdraws Troops from Southern Lebanon**
The Israeli military has pulled out of most areas in southern Lebanon, except for five strategic positions. This move is part of a ceasefire agreement that ended a conflict with the Shia militant group Hezbollah.
**Some Troops Remain**
Israeli ministers said some troops will stay to protect Israel’s northern community. However, Lebanon demanded a full withdrawal, calling any continued Israeli presence an occupation.
**Deadly Conflict**
The conflict was the deadliest since Hezbollah’s formation in 1982. Over 3,960 people were killed, with many being civilians. One million people were displaced from areas where Hezbollah was strong.
**UN Reports Progress**
Most displaced people have returned to their homes in Lebanon, but a small minority of those in Israel are still waiting to go back. UN reports indicate that the majority of Lebanese displaced people have returned home.
**Israeli Explanation**
The Israeli Foreign Minister said troops remained in five strategic highpoints for security reasons. He promised these positions would not be necessary once Lebanon fully implements the deal.
**Lebanese Troops Move In**
Lebanese soldiers moved into areas vacated by Israel and started clearing roadblocks and checking for unexploded ordnance. Some villagers were able to return to their homes, despite many being destroyed in the conflict.
**Return to Home**
Atef Arabici, a villager, expressed joy at returning home with his family, even though their house was destroyed. He vowed to rebuild it.
