Austin: Putin can’t defeat Ukraine even with North Korean assistance

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin stated during a press conference held with South Korean Defense minister Kim Yong-hwan, that Russia cannot win the war in Ukraine despite deploying tens of thousands of soldiers on its soil.
North Korea has sent 10,000 soldiers to eastern Russia training. Some of these North Korean soldiers have already moved up to 50 km from the Ukraine border.
Austin said, “We see them in uniforms and with Russian equipment.”
The Defense Secretary emphasized that Russia is a member of a Security Resolution prohibiting military aid to North Korea.
Austin said that “turning to troops from an pariah-state like North Korea only shows how serious his [Putin] problems are.”
According to Austin, officials are closely monitoring the situation.
“We take it very seriously.” We urge the Kremlin change its course, and we are fully aware of what this means for Europe and Indo-Pacific. Putin will not win the , even if North Korea increases its support,” he said.
US President Joe Biden has endorsed possible Ukrainian military action if North Korean forces enter Ukraine amid growing concern over presence in Russia’s Oblast.
Biden, when asked by Reuters about the North Korean troops in , said “I am worried about it”.
Biden replied, “If they cross the border into Ukraine, yes.”
The US Defense Secretary has announced that the US will lead a collaboration with the Netherlands and Denmark in order to train Ukrainian fighter jet pilots.
