**Two Children Die in Batumi Water Ditch Tragedy**
On February 15, two minors, a four-year-old and a five-year-old, died after falling into a water ditch on the territory of the “Dream Town” social project in Batumi. The area was not fenced off despite planned construction works.
The Interior Ministry has launched an investigation under Article 116 of the country’s criminal code, which covers killing by negligence. The two children were taken to hospital after hours of search but could not be saved.
**Resident Blame Ruling Government**
Residents say safety standards have been ignored because the area was not fenced off. They blame the ruling government, which builds residential blocks there. Just a week earlier, Georgian Dream Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and the Chair of the GD government in Adjara, Tornike Rizhvadze, inaugurated the second stage of construction of “Dream City”.
**Investigation Launched**
The Interior Ministry has launched an investigation into the deaths. Residents are demanding answers about why the area was not fenced off.
**Similar Tragedy Happened in Tbilisi**
A similar tragedy happened on January 25 in Tbilisi, where a 16-year-old boy fell into a water ditch in Rike Park. There were no warning signs or fencing around the ditch. The MIA launched an investigation under Article 115 of the Criminal Code.
