It is important that we give our European friends the most information possible about what happened and what evidence we have gathered. After the meeting with EU Ambassador in Georgia, Pawel Herczynski, Badri Japaridze, one of the leaders from “Strong Georgia”, said that the report was ready and would be given to Ambassador Herczynski for him to send to Brussels.
As he explains the European Union is actively examining the situation that could affect the elections in Georgia.
This meeting was very useful, informative and necessary. We discussed for 2 hours with the ambassador the current situation in our country, what the opposition has done and the plans they have, as well as the support the Georgians need from the European Union during this historic moment. I am not allowed, however, to discuss the details in public. The most important thing is to understand that there is a very active debate in the European Union about the situation created in our country and the elections that “Georgian Dream” hijacked. This review is still ongoing. We have seen the most important announcements made by the leaders of three countries. It was the announcements of the leaders of Germany France and Poland. We will see more important discussion in the next week. It is important that we give our European friends the most information possible about what happened and what evidence we have gathered. This will be written. The report will be handed to Ambassador Pawel Herczynski to send to Brussels. This meeting was extremely productive and useful. We will continue to communicate with our loyal friend, the European Union.
This report was prepared with the participation of four coalitions and includes systemic violations as well as their description. It is therefore important to have here a mission under the auspices the European Union that will personally evaluate the violations that have occurred. They will also evaluate the process and determine whether it is in accordance with the commitment made in connection with holding free and fair elections. In general, “Georgian Dream”, did not even ensure this commitment was met. The election process was taken over. It is therefore crucial to have an EU mission that will evaluate these elections and the disparities we have all witnessed. This assessment will be decisive in determining the next steps. We are talking about a independent investigation. A thief would never investigate his crime. Therefore, we will cooperate with this mission, which is independent and will not be controlled by “Georgian Dream”, Japaridze stated.
