Badri Japaridze, leader of “Strong Georgia”, condemned “Georgian Dream”, for alleged interference in elections. He called on European allies stand by the Georgians to uphold democratic integrity.
Badri Japaridze, leader of “Strong Georgia”, accused the ruling “Georgian Dream” party of manipulating recent parliamentary election. Japaridze stressed the importance of EU support to ensure the legitimacy of Georgia’s democratic process, and keep the country’s pro-Western path intact.
Japaridze expressed concern over the alleged election interference by “Georgian Dream”, describing it as a deliberate attempt to ignore Georgians’ pro-Western preference. He said that there is ample evidence of election hijacking even though the ruling party, in his words “blinds its eyes” to this fact.
Japaridze said, “The Georgian people voted pro-Western on October 26 but ‘Georgian Dream hijacked this elections.” He emphasized the role of the EU delegation visiting, noting that “this high-ranking group is parliamentarians from EU members states are here to understand reality of the post-election scenario.”
Japaridze stated that “Our meeting will be focused on discussing steps to ensure that the Georgians continue to feel the steadfast and unwavering support of the European Union, and Western partners.” This support will only increase.”
