The Turkish drone manufacturer did not disclose any details about the deal. However, Ukraine’s MFA hinted that it could be related to Kizilelma Jet drone production in Ukraine.
On 22 October, the Saha Expo defense fair in Turkiye saw the signing of a new agreement between Baykar, a Turkish combat drone manufacturer, and Ukraine.
The Bayraktar drones were instrumental in the early months following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The TB2 delivered effective strikes against Russian equipment. Their impact decreased as Russia’s air defenses improved. Ukraine and Turkiye are strengthening ties with planned localized production and technology partnerships, including integrating Ukrainian engines such as those from Ivchenko Progress and Motor Sich in advanced models of Bayraktars like Akinci and Kizilelma.
According to Baykar’s Facebook post, Haluk Bayraktar who is the Chairman of the Board at SAHA Istanbul, attended the signing ceremony.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said that the delegation of the country at the signing ceremony consisted of FM Andrii Sybiha and Ukrainian MP and Crimean Tatar Leader Mustafa Dzhemilev.
Baykar’s General Director presented Minister Sybiha a model of a Kizilelma supersonic drone with Ukrainian symbols before the signing. Reports from last year indicated that Baykar would produce Kizilelma in the Ukrainian factory.
