**UK Pledges Support to Ukraine for 100 Years**
British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has promised to support Ukraine for the next 100 years. He made this pledge during a visit to Kyiv, where he signed a “landmark” treaty with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
**Air Raids Interrupt Meeting**
The meeting was interrupted by air raid sirens and explosions after a reported Russian drone attack was intercepted by Ukraine’s defence systems. This was a reminder of the daily attacks that Ukraine faces, and Sir Keir said it showed the resolve of the Ukrainian people.
**UK to Provide Military Support**
The UK will provide military support to Ukraine, including a new mobile air defence system. They will also continue to train Ukrainian troops, with over 50,000 already trained on British soil. Additionally, the UK will provide economic aid and support for healthcare.
**Concerns Over US Aid**
There are concerns that the new US President-elect may reduce aid to Ukraine. President Zelensky is looking to firm up security guarantees from key allies, including the UK and France.
**Ukraine Loses Territory**
As the war reaches its third year, Ukraine is losing territory in the east. Russian forces have gained ground quickly, despite Ukrainian strikes on Russia.
**Sir Keir’s Visit**
This was Sir Keir’s first visit as Prime Minister to Ukraine. He visited a hospital where he met wounded Ukrainians and laid wreaths at a memorial with President Zelensky. He also visited a hospital specialising in treating burns.
