**Israelis in Doha to Plan Hostage Release**
A team of Israeli officials is in Qatar’s capital, Doha. They are working on a plan to free the remaining hostages and withdraw troops. This comes after a long conflict between Israel and Hamas.
The team is described as “working level”. It means they are not high-level officials, but still have important roles to play in negotiations. However, their comments may cause problems for the negotiators trying to reach an agreement with Hamas.
One Israeli official said that they will not tolerate any terrorist activity from Gaza against Israelis or Israel itself. They also stated that there will be no return to normal before October 7th. This is a date when a previous conflict began.
In Israel, these comments are important for gaining the support of right-wing cabinet ministers. These politicians had previously warned that they would not accept certain conditions.
**The Conflict**
More than 1,200 people died and 253 were taken hostage during the conflict. Over 100 hostages were freed through military rescue operations or negotiations. Recently, Hamas handed over a list of Palestinian prisoners to Egyptian officials as part of an agreement.
Hamas is demanding these prisoners in exchange for releasing more hostages. This comes after Israel had promised to free certain Palestinian prisoners at the beginning of the war.
The UN considers figures from the Hamas Ministry of Health reliable. They report that over 45,000 Palestinians have been killed since the start of the conflict.
