Beka Liluashvili said this when evaluating the statement made by Josep Borrell.
According to him, “Georgian Dream” as a political organisation will maintain its political opinions, importance, and perspective if the government is able to hold elections in an environment of freedom and not steal the choice from Georgian citizens.
“It has been a while, and the situation is clear. We believe that the only test that the government must pass is the election. In practice, the European Union said the same thing. If the government can hold elections in a democratic environment and not steal the vote of the citizens, then “Georgian Dream” as a political organisation will retain its political opinion and perspective. It does not mean he will win, but it will allow him to maintain the perspective of his political organization. If they don‘t, they’ll steal our country’s vote again, falsify elections, and confirm once again that authoritarianism has taken hold in this country. As the government and political organization in this country, they have no future. “The citizens of Georgia can do this without anyone’s help,” Liluashvili stated.
Josep Borrell is the EU‘s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. He said that recent actions, statements and electoral promises by the ruling party of Georgia are a departure from the European path and a transition towards authoritarianism.
According to Borrell the parliamentary election will be a test of democracy in Georgia and the country’s path to the European Union.
