**Thousands March on Belgrade**
A large number of university students, high school seniors, and their supporters are marching towards the Serbian capital to take part in a protest. The marchers have been walking or cycling for days from towns and cities across the country.
The protests started after 15 people died in a building collapse at a railway station in Novi Sad on November 1. Students are demanding answers about what happened.
Over the past few months, students have held mass protests in several cities. They took over their colleges, stopped classes, and introduced a daily minute of silence to remember the victims. The minute was later extended from 14 minutes to 15 when one of the three survivors died.
The student marches have had an impact. They’ve brought people together across the country and shown that the authorities don‘t have to be feared. The marchers are also informing people about their reasons for protesting in areas where only government-controlled media is available.
**Local Support**
People along the marchers’ routes have been welcoming them with food, drink, and even blessings from priests. Some farmers have joined the marches on tractors, showing support from the start.
The authorities have tried to stop the masses of people from coming to Belgrade, but the marchers are finding ways around these efforts. Social media reports suggest that buses and trains have been cancelled.
