University of Belgrade Tackles Student Demands
The University of Belgrade Senate held an e-meeting recently. During this meeting, Rector Vladan Djokic announced the formation of two expert working groups.
These groups are made up of professors and experts from various fields at the university. Their job is to assess how well student demands have been met by institutions. The working groups will make a report based on available documents and expert analysis.
The report will be presented to the extended rector’s board and student assemblies. This way, student assemblies can make informed decisions about what to do next. The report will be based on verified facts, not just opinions.
The four demands being made by protesting students are:
1. For all documentation related to the reconstruction of the Novi Sad railway station to be published.
2. For charges against students and young people arrested or detained during protests over the train station disaster to be dropped.
3. For those responsible for attacks on students and professors to be brought to justice, with criminal proceedings initiated against them.
4. A 20% increase in the budget allocated to material costs for state-owned higher education institutions.
