**US Support for Ukraine to Continue, Says Biden**
Outgoing US President Joe Biden has said he did everything in his power to help Ukraine. He spoke on January 10 and expressed hope that US support will continue even after he leaves office.
Biden mentioned that there are many Democrats and Republicans who want to keep supporting Ukraine. He hopes they will speak up and tell the new president not to cut off funding for Ukraine if President-elect Donald Trump decides to do so.
Trump is set to take over as president on January 20. In the past, he has criticized the US administration’s support for Ukraine. However, he has also said that he won’t abandon Ukraine completely. Instead, he wants to use US aid to push for quicker peace talks.
**US Aid to Ukraine**
During his time in office, Biden allocated over $170 billion to help Ukraine. This includes more than $60 billion in military aid since the war started in 2022. The US has also recently announced a new package of $500 million in military assistance and sweeping sanctions against Russia‘s oil industry.
**Ukraine Can Hold Out**
When asked what would happen if Trump cuts off US aid, Biden was optimistic that Ukraine can still prevail. He said that as long as European partners stay united, Ukraine has a good chance of winning because the cost to Russia is very high – over 600,000 dead or wounded soldiers.
Biden also mentioned that Russian President Vladimir Putin has his own problems at home, both economically and politically.
**Final Push for Ukraine**
The Biden administration plans to continue supporting Ukraine as much as possible in its last months and weeks in office. The goal is to put Ukraine in the strongest negotiating position possible.
