America was our top priority. Former members of my team who are now in opposition will remember my attitude. I hope and am certain that we will be able to change the negative and difficult attitudes into a positive one at the same time the war ends, said Bidzina, the honorary chairwoman of “Georgian Dream”.
In an interview with “Imedi”, the former president spoke about re-establishing relations with international partners, and noted that the “problem and cause of all this is war.” It changed our lives and sometimes even turned them upside down.
Bidzina ivanishvili also said that a meeting would be held after the elections between her and the Ambassador of the United States of America Robin Dunnigan.
“We had no problem before the war. I hope and believe that the war will be over in a few more months, perhaps even by the end of the year. When we won in Singapore, and “Credit Suisse”, could no longer stop it from being implemented. I immediately called the American Ambassador the week before. We communicated, and asked for a meet-up. I said that there was no problem and that I am willing to meet. The response was very positive, there was a strong desire to meet, and we will be meeting after the elections. We have already discussed it. I hope we won’t stop trying in the short term, or even after one meeting. But there must be a shared desire. I hope we will consider everything in dynamic. The elections are over in America, they are over in Europe and being sorted, but the bureaucracy is not yet sorted. I hope that the end of war coincides and I believe the situation will return to the original state after the war.
Bidzina Ilvanisvili said that the restart of relations will be dependent on a mutual approach and Georgia cannot do it alone.
“Ofcourse, there were all of the problems. And from the day that he entered politics, there has always been a difference in interest, not a 100 percent agreement. But there was nothing like this, and the public does not even remember. This tension came out, and everyone can see. America was always our top priority. Even former members of my team who are now in the opposition will remember me well. I was in a meeting with an organization and they thought that I had rigid attitudes. No, God forbid. We Georgians are genetically experienced, we have lived in a difficult region, and we know how power works. But we don’t want to destroy or disintegrate our country. We tried and I excelled, I will repeat that again, former team members can verify and remember this well. I hope and am certain that we will be able to change the negative and difficult attitudes into positive ones in parallel with the ending of the war. But I repeat, we should not be euphoric. This requires a joint attitude. Georgia alone cannot achieve this. At the same time our dream and desire need to come into line with reality, and end this conflict. We hope that it will end before the year ends or in the spring. We have hope, and will not stop trying,” said BidzinaIvanishvili.
