**US Secretary of State: Trump Admin Can Broker Peace Deal in Ukraine**
The new Trump administration will have the power to negotiate a good and strong peace deal in Ukraine, if Kyiv agrees. This is according to outgoing US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
Blinken said that thanks to the Biden administration and international partners, Russia has failed to subdue Ukraine. He believes that President–elect Donald Trump can help negotiate a good deal for Ukraine.
**Ukraine Must Agree**
To achieve a peace deal, both Kyiv and Moscow must make concessions, according to Marco Rubio, who is expected to replace Blinken as Secretary of State.
Blinken warned that any potential ceasefire must be lasting, not just a temporary pause. He emphasized the need for effective deterrence to prevent Russia from re-attacking Ukraine.
**Russia’s Situation**
The Biden administration has helped put Ukraine in a strong position for potential talks with Russia. Russia has suffered massive battlefield losses and faces economic difficulties.
Blinken highlighted that Russia has incurred almost unimaginable losses, including 700,000 to 800,000 casualties. The US has ramped up support for Ukraine since Trump’s reelection, announcing major security assistance packages and imposing sanctions on the Russian energy sector.
