Hungary Criticized US on Bank

The United States has put sanctions on a major Russian bank called Gazprombank. Hungary is unhappy about this decision.

Hungary’s , Peter Szijjarto, said that the sanctions are attack on the country’s independence. He made these comments at a meeting Turkey. Hungary gets most of its gas from Russia and pays for it through Gazprombank.

The has been friends with Russia for some time. They have a 15-year deal buy gas from them every year. In fact, Hungary is more friendly to Russia than many other European countries that are part of .

Szijjarto has visited Russia several times during the war in Ukraine. He has also blocked and sanctions against Russia on behalf of his government.
