Hungary Criticized Sanctions on

The United States has put sanctions on major bank called . is unhappy about this decision.

Hungary’s Foreign Minister, Peter Szijjarto, said that the sanctions are an attack on the country’s independence. He made these comments at a meeting Turkey. Hungary gets most of its gas from Russia and pays it through Gazprombank.

The government has been friends with Russia for some time. They have a 15-year deal buy gas from them every year. In fact, Hungary is more friendly to Russia than many other European countries that are part of NATO.

Szijjarto has visited Russia several times during the war in Ukraine. He has also blocked aid and sanctions against Russia on behalf of his government.
