**Oil Shipments Halt at Russia’s Ust-Luga Port**
There is a problem with oil flowing through Russia’s Ust-Luga port in the Baltic Sea. This happened after an alleged Ukrainian drone attack, according to Bloomberg on January 30.
A source from Ukraine said that they hit an oil pumping station called Andreapol in Russia’s Tver Oblast with drones overnight on January 29. The source also said that Russia had to stop the main pipeline that supplies oil to the Ust-Luga terminal.
**Shipping Data Shows a Drop**
There is a decrease in shipping activity at the port, which supports these claims, according to Bloomberg. On January 29, there were no oil deliveries from Ust-Luga. A source with knowledge of the shipments said that there was only one vessel leaving the port early on January 29.
**Important Oil Facility Targeted**
The Andreapol pumping station is part of a major pipeline system in Russia. It supplies oil to the Ust-Luga port, which processed about 650,000 barrels of crude per day in 2024. This represents around 20% of Russia’s total seaborne crude supply.
**Ukraine Targets Russian Oil Facilities**
Ukraine regularly attacks Russian oil facilities with long-range drone strikes. They aim to disrupt fuel supplies to the Russian military and reduce Moscow’s energy export revenues. Oil profits are a crucial source of funding for Russia’s war efforts.
