**US Hopes for Ceasefire in Ukraine by Easter**
The US government is still hoping to achieve a ceasefire in Ukraine by Easter, despite Russia‘s ongoing attacks on the country. According to Bloomberg, Washington believes that a truce could be agreed upon by April 20.
However, so far, there has been very little progress towards ending the war. The Trump administration has only managed to orchestrate a temporary 30-day ceasefire between Kyiv and Moscow on energy infrastructure. Russia and Ukraine continue to exchange drone strikes, with dozens of Ukrainian civilians killed over the last week.
US President Donald Trump remains optimistic that a full ceasefire can be achieved soon. “I believe we’re going to pretty soon have a full ceasefire,” he told reporters. However, Russia’s latest attack on March 23 killed at least three people in Kyiv, including a five-year-old girl and her father.
**Talks to Continue**
US negotiators are set to meet Ukrainian and Russian delegates separately in Riyadh on March 24 to discuss the partial ceasefire proposal. This is despite Ukraine’s skepticism about any substantial results from the talks. Russia has called for an end to arms deliveries to Ukraine, which is unlikely to be accepted by Kyiv.
The Trump team has held separate meetings with each side before, including talks with Russia in Riyadh and Istanbul, and with Ukraine in Jeddah. However, no progress has been made towards ending the war.
**No Clear End in Sight**
For now, it seems that a ceasefire is still far off. Russia’s continued attacks on Ukraine have killed dozens of civilians, and there is no clear end to the conflict in sight. The US government remains hopeful that a truce can be agreed upon soon, but until then, the war continues.
