Turkey to Send Troops to Ukraine?
Turkey is considering sending troops to Ukraine as part of a peacekeeping force. This idea has been around for some time, but it’s gaining attention now.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed the possibility with leaders from Ukraine and Russia in February. But Russia hasn’t said yes or no to the proposal yet. The Kremlin is worried about NATO countries being involved in a peacekeeping force.
Turkey wants to be directly involved in any mission, so they won’t send troops unless they’re part of all the planning and preparation. This idea has been supported by some countries like France, the UK, and others. However, there’s still no agreement among European nations about this.
The US says it supports a peacekeeping force, but wouldn’t send its own troops. Instead, they want to see a mission led by other countries from Europe and beyond.
