**British PM to Visit Ukraine**
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is planning a visit to Ukraine in the coming weeks. This will be his first trip to the country since becoming prime minister.
**Talks on Peacekeeping**
Starmer’s visit comes as European nations discuss regional security ahead of US President-elect Donald Trump‘s inauguration. Paris and London are exploring the possibility of deploying French and British troops to monitor a potential ceasefire in Ukraine.
**Ceasefire Monitoring**
Senior NATO officials have been discussing this idea bilaterally in national capitals, rather than within NATO structures. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has highlighted the potential peacekeeping mission on January 9, after meeting with international leaders at Ramstein Air Base in Germany.
**International Pressure**

Trump has also advocated for Europe to take the lead in monitoring a potential ceasefire. Zelensky has said that Ukraine would only consider foreign peacekeepers if it secures a clear timeline for NATO membership.
