EU’s Policy on Georgia Criticized
The European Union’s treatment of Georgia is unfair, according to a member of the European Parliament. Branislav Ondruš made this statement at a recent meeting.
He said that the EU should have a rational conversation with the Georgian government. This is because the EU has not taken any action against Russia for its occupation of Georgia. The EU has even worked with Russia on politics and trade.
Georgia does not belong to NATO, so it does not provide security for Europe. As a result, the EU cannot compensate for the economic damage caused by sanctions on Russia. Instead, the EU is punishing the Georgian government for balancing relations with Russia. This has helped Georgians avoid a social crisis.
Ondruš believes that the EU Commission and Parliament should talk to Georgia in a reasonable way.
