**Venezuela Supports Serbia‘s Stance on Kosovo**
Ana Brnabic, the Speaker of the Serbian National Assembly, was in Caracas for the inauguration of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. She said that Venezuela is a “great friend” to Serbia because it respects international law and does not recognize Kosovo as an independent country.
Brnabic met with President Maduro and expressed her gratitude to him for respecting Serbia’s territorial integrity. She also praised Venezuela for being a strong ally in the international community, particularly when it comes to opposing Kosovo’s independence.
**Protests Against Maduro**
While Brnabic was in Caracas, protests took place against President Maduro. The opposition claims that he lost last year’s presidential election to Edmund González. According to the Associated Press, the opposition provided evidence showing that González won twice as many votes as Maduro.
However, Venezuela’s National Electoral Council declared Maduro the winner. Following the election, over 2,000 people were arrested. The governments of the United States and several other countries have recognized González as the elected president of Venezuela.
