The Bulgarian government has been providing support to Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion in 2022. Despite significant pro-Russian sentiment in the country, Sofia has quietly shipped arms to Ukraine over the past year. The largest donation publicly announced was 100 older armored vehicles.
**NATO‘s Support for Ukraine**
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said on December 4 that NATO countries will do all they can to provide Ukraine with air defenses necessary to protect its infrastructure. However, there is no surplus of such systems available. This means that Ukraine may still face challenges in defending itself against Russian attacks.
**Belarus and Russia Plan Training Centers**
Russia and Belarus are planning to set up three training centers to jointly train soldiers, according to Gennady Lepeshko, the Belarusian security and defense senior official. This move is seen as a further escalation of military cooperation between the two countries.

The mayor of the occupied Dniprorudne town, Yevhenii Matvieiev, was tortured to death in Russian captivity, according to Zaporizhzhia Oblast Governor Ivan Fedorov. This is just one example of the human cost of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
**Ukraine and the EU**
On December 4, Ukraine’s Finance Ministry and the EU signed a memorandum and an agreement to attract up to €35 billion in funding as part of the G7 loan. This support will help Ukraine recover from the devastating effects of the war.
