Zelenskyy made the announcement after a phone call with Trudeau. They discussed the Montreal Peace Formula Conference, the Victory Plan and North Korea‘s participation in the war.
The first NASAMS air defence system ordered by Canada by Ukraine was shipped on 4 November. Delivery is expected by the end this year. During their phone call, Justin Trudeau, Canadian Prime Minister, informed him of the shipment.
Zelenskyy said that NASAMS and Patriot systems were highly effective in Ukraine. Zelenskyy, in April 2024 during a period of intensified Russian air attacks urged allies, stating that Ukraine needed 25 Patriot systems to secure its airspace, to provide as many systems as possible. He said that even a supply of seven systems immediately would boost Ukraine’s defence capabilities.
The Ukrainian President thanked Trudeau and his team as well as all parties involved for the successful hosting of the Peace Formula Conference on “Release of Prisoners and Deportees”, in Montreal, on 30 and 31 October.
