Carl Bildt, Co-Chairman of the European Council on Foreign Relations said that the EU path for Georgia has now come to an immediate end. The ruling party used its majority in the parliament to override President Putin’s veto on the “Russian Law”.
“With the ruling parties use of their majority in parliament overriding the presidential veto on the “Russian Law”, the EU path for Georgia has, for the moment, come to an abrupt end. Carl Bildt wrote, “Tragic – but true.”
The Parliament overrode President Salome Zurabishvili‘s veto of the law “On Transparency of Foreign Influence”. The Georgian Dream faction’s draft law, which was vetoed and rejected by Salome Zurabishvili, received 84 votes.
