The Central Election Commission has processed data on voters abroad. CEC distributes information about this.
According to updated information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other relevant agencies the number of voters who have the right to vote overseas is 95,834.
“It is well known that the CEC, at its session on September 26, created 60 precincts for 65.508 people who have the right to vote overseas for the parliamentary election. The CEC session tomorrow will discuss, based on the updated data and to ensure voting, the opening of additional polling stations in order for 30326 additional voters. We are referring to the opening of seven additional districts. This is not the final result and the agencies are still working to clarify the status of about 20 voters.
The CEC will also discuss the issue of the already open polling station in Israel at its session tomorrow. The letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent to the CEC explains the risks and circumstances of the situation in Ramat-Gan, Israel and the issues relating to the operation of an election precinct.
We remind you that the law states that a voting station abroad can be created for no less than 50 voters and no more than 3,000 registered consularly. The Georgian election legislation does not include any other regulations regarding participation in elections by Georgian citizens who live abroad.
We will inform the public about the results and polling stations overseas immediately after the session. We urge the interested parties to refrain from using the topic of voting overseas for political manipulations. This will harm the election environment and voters’ interests,” reads the information.
