Committee Approves 2023 Action Plan for Education and Science, But Questions Government’s Role

The Education and Science Committee has approved the 2023 action plan, which was presented by Giorgi Amilakhvari, the Chair of the Committee. According Amilakhvari, the Committee aims to strengthen its supervisory role by inviting subordinate bodies of the to on their progress at regular intervals. Additionally, the Committee will actively monitor the implementation of recommendations resulting from thematic inquiries conducted in 2022.

Amilakhvari also announced that the Education and Science Committee plans to conduct two new thematic studies in 2023, focusing on higher and professional education. He emphasized that the Committee will begin working on the Education Code in the upcoming year.

“In the 10th of parliament, our goal is to draft education code. We will engage in open discussions with the opposition, academic communities, and other stakeholders, including -governmental . The code will be developed with input from experts,” Amilakhvari stated.

It is worth noting that the Education and Science Committee’ plans 2023 have been met with criticism from some, who believe that the current government has not done enough to improve the education system.
