**Ukrainian Finds Safety UK**

Three years ago, Nataliya Korovina and her family fled Ukraine after Russia invaded. They have been living in Coventry ever since.

“It feels safe here,” Ms Korovina said. “That’s the most important thing.” She and her husband, along with their three children, left on June , 2022. They had lived in Ukraine for six months before that, hiding in a basement as exploded nearby.

**Trauma of War Follows**

The experience was traumatic for Ms Korovina’s family. Even now, they get nervous when they hear that remind them of the war. “We feel a little bit nervous,” she said.

Despite their gratitude be safe in the UK, Ms Korovina and her children still dream of going back to Ukraine. Her sons are at important stages in their education, and she wants them to finish school and find jobs in their home country.

**Helping Ukrainian Children**

Ms Korovina works as a multilingual educational assistant for Coventry , helping Ukrainian children adjust to school in the UK. She’s passionate about her work, saying it makes her happy to see the children smile when she helps them.

To mark the anniversary of the invasion on February 24, 2022, a special service will be at Coventry Cathedral. Ms Korovina said it will be an emotional day, with many people remembering the lives lost in the war.

**A Dream to Go Back**

While life is good in the UK, Ms Korovina and her children still dream of going back to Ukraine. “All children want to live in their own country,” she said. Despite this, they are grateful for the safety and support provided by the UK government.
