**Ukrainian Drones Attack Kerch in Occupied Crimea, Reports Say**
The Crimean Bridge was closed on December 6 after reports of Ukrainian drones targeting the area. The bridge connects occupied Crimea with Russia’s mainland.
According to a pro-Ukrainian Telegram channel, explosions were heard near the city of Kerch, where a shipyard is located. Air defense systems were reportedly activated in the area. The Crimean Bridge’s official Telegram channel said that traffic on the bridge has been suspended temporarily.
Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed that air defense systems shot down one Ukrainian drone over Crimea overnight. They also said that Russian naval aviation destroyed two Ukrainian boats heading towards Crimea.
However, the claims could not be verified by The Kyiv Independent.
The Crimean Bridge is a 19-kilometer-long bridge that was completed in 2018. It has been attacked by Ukraine’s forces on several occasions and was heavily damaged in October 2022 and July 2023.
**Russia Strengthens Defenses Around Crimea Bridge**
Russia has strengthened defenses around the Crimean Bridge, including deploying underwater drone traps. The bridge is a critical supply route for Russian forces.
