**Croatia Asks EU to Report on Hate Speech in Serbia**
The European Commission was asked by Croatia to include hate speech against Croats and Croatia in its next report on Serbia. This request was made by Croatian MEP Jasna Vojnic.
Croatia is a member of the European Union and supports the union’s efforts to expand into other countries from the Western Balkans. But, Croatia believes that these countries should be admitted based on their own merit. They want the EU to pay attention to hate speech against Croats, as well as intolerance and human rights violations in Serbia.
**Zero Tolerance for Hate Speech**
Vojnic told a meeting of the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs that there should be zero tolerance for hate speech and intolerance. She also asked the EU and its partners to take note of the current situation in Serbia. There are growing protests and demands from citizens for democracy, freedom of the media, and rule of law.
**A Growing Problem**
Vojnic said that instead of solving problems, the Serbian government is shifting responsibility to external factors. They are also unfairly accusing Croatia of things. This can create more problems not just in Serbia but also in the whole region.
