**Russian Forces Looted Ukraine’s Museums in 2022**
In the fall of last year, Russian forces took over two museums in Kherson. The Art Museum and the Museum of Local History were among the places affected.
The Russian army took more than 33,000 pieces of art and historical artifacts when they left Ukraine. This included gold from Scythian, Gothic, and Sarmatian cultures. It was one of the biggest thefts in Europe since World War II.
There are few people left on the Ukrainian side who can talk about what happened. Russia has kept all details a secret and won’t say anything about it.
**Two Years Later, Little Progress**
It’s been two years since the looting happened, but Ukraine hasn’t made much progress in investigating the crime. Most of the news has focused on people who helped Russia take the treasures.
I worked with the Kyiv Independent to find out who was behind this and where the artifacts are now.
