At a conference held in Prague on October 9, Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky stated that Russia is responsible for 80 percent of all foreign influence operations around the world.
“Russia is responsible for 80% influence operations around the world.” Lipavsky stated that this is four times as much as the rest of the globe combined.
Lipavsky believes that Europe must increase its vigilance in order to combat such threats.
“We need to be more determined in our fight against Kremlin influences than we have been so far.” Lipavsky stated that the solution lies in strategic communications, sanctions, exposing criminals, and using existing legal measures.
Senior U.S. Intelligence officials warned earlier this week of the malign influence campaigns being ramped up by their adversaries in the U.S. ahead of the November 5 elections.
U.S. Intelligence officials reported that Russia is continuing to actively run influence campaign aimed at boosting the former President and Republican Candidate Donald Trump, while undermining Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign.
In August, Mali & Niger severed diplomatic ties with Ukraine because of what is suspected as Russian influence in both countries.
The Czech Republic will also deliver at least 500,000 shells to Ukraine before the end of the year, as part of a Czech-led procurement initiative called the “Czech Ammunition Initiative.”
