**Russian Oil Deliveries to Czech Republic Halted**
On March 4, the Czech news channel CT24 reported that Russian oil deliveries to the Czech Republic have stopped. The Industry and Trade Minister, Lukas Vlcek, confirmed this information.
**Czech Republic Prepared for Disruption**
Minister Vlcek said that the situation is under control and that refineries in the Czech Republic are well-prepared. He also mentioned that the state material reserve system is reliable, ensuring enough oil reserves for both households and businesses.
**Druzhba Pipeline Disrupted Before**
This is not the first time the Druzhba pipeline has experienced disruptions. In early December 2024, supplies were temporarily halted but resumed after two days. The Soviet-era pipeline transports Russian oil to Europe through two main branches.
**Czech Republic Plans to Stop Russian Oil Imports**
In January, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala announced that Prague plans to completely stop importing Russian oil via the Druzhba pipeline. Instead, they will rely on the Transalpine Pipeline, which has been modernized to boost supply volumes.
**European Union Imposed Embargo**
The European Union imposed an embargo on Russian oil and oil products in June 2023. The southern branch of Druzhba was temporarily exempted from this embargo but will lose its exemption in June 2025.
