**European Parliament Takes Stance on Georgia**
MEP Dainius Žalimas spoke at a press conference in the European Parliament. He was joined by other MEPs and leaders of the ‘Coalition for Change‘.
Žalimas said that sanctions against individuals are very important. Without judges, police, and prosecutors, these actions wouldn’t be possible. He emphasized the importance of supporting civil society in Georgia.
**Sanctions Must Be Felt**
Žalimas stated that judges in Georgia must understand they’re going against Europe and its principles. They should feel the impact of sanctions themselves. This would show them how serious it is to go against these rules.
**Help for Civil Society**
The European Parliament’s resolution also calls for the European Commission to act quickly. It says that financial resources should be redirected from the Georgian government to civil society, NGOs, and media organizations. This must happen as soon as possible to help these groups survive.
