The EU Sanctions Envoy Mr. David O’Sullivan will arrive in Tbilisi on 26th June for a 2-day visit to discuss issues of interest to both Georgian and EU authorities, including the sanctions and the effective implementation. This is according to the EU Delegation in Georgia.
According to them the purpose of this visit is to establish a direct communication channel and a future cooperative dialogue. The Georgian authorities were very open about issues that were of particular importance to the Envoy’s trip and we look forward continuing our close collaboration.
“During the visit (from tomorrow), meetings will be held in the presence of Prime Minister Garibashvili. Foreign Minister Darchiashvili. Vice Prime Minister and Minister for Economy Davitashvili. Minister of Finance Khutsishvili. Acting Governor of National Bank Mestvirishvili. Prosecutor general Shotadze. David O’Sullivan is also meeting with representatives of the business world. During the visit, Mr O’Sullivan is scheduled to hold a press conference. The location and time of the event will be announced separately.
The statement reads: “This will be a joint trip with Ambassador James O’Brien, head of the Office of Sanctions Coordination, US Department of State, and Mr Kumar Iyer, director general, Economics, Science and Technology, at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, UK Government.”
