Ukrainian military claims that Russian forces are preparing troops for a new assault on Toretsk, in Donetsk Oblast. Russian troops have amassed a large number in the direction of Toretsk, and Ukrainian defenders are facing fierce battles while the enemy attempts gain control of this strategic city.
Russian military targets Chasiv Yar in Donetsk Oblast, a key Ukrainian stronghold. Russian forces are intensifying attacks on Chasiv Yar in order to penetrate the defenses and prepare the Ukrainian troops for the ongoing battles in the region. This was reported by Joint Forces Operations Spokesperson Anastasia Bobovnikova. Kharkiv officials urge residents in Kupiansk to evacuate, as Russian troops are approaching again. Kharkiv OVA Chief Oleg Synehubov urges residents to evacuate as the combat zone near Kupiansk expands. Russian troops are approaching and have been spotted just four kilometers outside the city limits.
The Russians are attempting to surround Selydove in Donetsk, while targeting Vyshneve nearby with infantry and armor. The Ukrainian military claims that they are aiming to disrupt Ukrainian logistics and expand fire control, while avoiding direct urban warfare.
Ukraine liberates 400 ha of forest in Kharkiv Oblast, north of Lyptsi. HUR reports that the operation resulted from the destruction of three Russian motorized-rifle battalions, and the capture POWs. This significantly weakened the position of the invaders in the area.
Video shows Ukrainian tanks destroying Russian APCs at point-blank distance in Kursk Oblast. In a close-quarters fight, the 17th Tank Brigade of Ukraine engaged and destroyed a Russian armored personal carrier.
ISW: Russia’s ability to sustain long-term offensive operations is in question. Russia faces medium- to long-term constraints on force generation and military industrial production, which undermines its ability to overwhelm Ukraine by attrition.
