The Chair of the Committee Irakli Beraia, and MPs visited Giorgi Ansukhelidze Sergeant Academy.
The MPs were informed about the material-technical infrastructure of the Academy, the academic methods of the sergeants, and the field exercises and their training. The Academy’s leadership noted that Germany has made a significant contribution to the development of the Academy.
“The Academy is a key unit in the process of enhancing the defense capability of our country. The sergeant staff plays a crucial role in this.” Academy students receive the best possible learning conditions, training and exercises in accordance with NATO standards. We will continue to hold meetings with agencies that are part of the defense and security sector to ensure the exercise our oversight function, and to support and appreciate our defense forces and our glorious military men,” Beraia said.
The MPs laid a wreath at the Memorial to the Heroes who died for Territorial Integrity. Grigol Giorgadze, Deputy Defense Ministry, was with the MPs during their visit.
The Sergeant Training School, established on March 25, 2002, with the help of Germany, provided squad and platoon Sergeants with training that was close to NATO standards. The School was renamed Academic Center on November 15, 2013 after Giorgi Antsukhelidze, the National Hero. The Center was given the Sergeant Academy status on March 25, 2018.
