Ukraine Plans to Reform Military Medical Commissions
The Ukrainian government wants to change the way it deals with military medical commissions. The Defense Ministry and Health Ministry have created a plan to reform these commissions by November 2025.
There have been concerns about corruption and other issues in the current system. Deputy Defense Minister Serhii Melnyk said that the old way of doing things has not changed for decades. He thinks it’s too complicated and is prone to corruption.
The new plan aims to make two separate decisions: one medical and one administrative. This means that different people will do the medical exams and look at the results. The person getting examined can choose where they want to have their exam done, and then their information will be sent to the military commissions.
The goal is to make sure that people who are supposed to serve in the military get fair treatment. The new system also aims to prevent corruption by keeping the data anonymous and making it easier for law enforcement to check on what’s going on.
This reform is important because it can help people trust the system more. They will be able to feel safe knowing that their rights are protected, and they won’t be unfairly labeled as not being fit to serve just because they have an illness.
