**Ministry Staff Defy Georgian Dream‘s EU Accession Decision**
About 50 staff members from the Ministry of Defense have signed a joint statement. They say that Georgia’s path towards Europe and the West has no alternative. This is in direct opposition to the Georgian Dream (GD) party’s decision to halt the country‘s bid for European Union membership.
The statement says that GD’s decision could lead to Georgia being isolated from the international community. The staff members also praised the importance of working with European and Western partners on defense and security matters.
This move follows a similar petition signed by 134 officials at the Foreign Ministry. Two ambassadors, one to Bulgaria and another to South Korea, have also publicly distanced themselves from GD’s decision.
**Georgian Dream Gaslights Public Opinion**
The ruling party is trying to downplay the public outcry over their decision. They claim that it was just a delay in EU accession caused by Brussels, not a deliberate move by Tbilisi to block its own membership bid.
However, many see through this attempt to manipulate public opinion. The German Ambassador has even weighed in on the matter, saying that Georgia may have missed its chance at EU membership.
