**Denmark Delivers Second Batch of F-16 Fighter Jets to Ukraine**
On December 7, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Denmark has delivered a second batch of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. This is a significant boost to Ukraine’s air defense capabilities.
The F-16s are being used to intercept Russian missiles and protect Ukrainian infrastructure and civilian lives. According to Zelenskyy, the fighter jets are already making a difference on the battlefield. “Now our air shield is additionally reinforced,” he said.
**Ukraine Seeks Advanced Fighter Jets**
Ukraine has been seeking F-16 fighter jets since Russia’s full-scale invasion began in February 2022. The country needs modern combat aircraft to counter Russian military aviation and protect its citizens.
The first batch of F-16s was delivered on August 4, but Ukraine needed more planes and trained pilots to effectively use them. Denmark has now committed to providing a total of 19 F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine.
**Denmark’s Sustained Support**
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen announced in November that Copenhagen would transfer two additional batches of F-16 fighters to Ukraine. This commitment is part of a broader agreement between the two countries, which includes military aid and naval equipment through 2028.
President Zelenskyy thanked Denmark for its decisive support, saying “If all partners were as decisive as you, Russian terror would have already been made impossible.”
