**Police Officers Injured During Protest**
The Ministry of Internal Affairs said that the actions of protest participants posed a threat to their health and lives. Deputy Minister Aleksandre Darakhvelidze made this statement at a briefing.
The Deputy Minister said that the protesters exceeded the limits set by law and turned violent. He mentioned that police officers were deployed in the area where protests took place, but some protesters moved to the rear entrance of the Parliament and began throwing objects and verbally abusing the police.
**Protesters’ Actions**
Some protesters threw stones, glass bottles, pyrotechnics, metal objects, eggs, paints, and other things at the police officers. They also damaged the gates of the Parliament building. Despite calls from law enforcement officers to stop their violent actions, they continued.
The protesters blocked Rustaveli Avenue with benches, garbage cans, and other items, and set fire to them. They also damaged infrastructure in the surrounding area.
**Police Response**
In response to these actions, police forces cleared the streets of violent groups. 107 people were detained by the police. Over two days, 42 employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were seriously injured as a result of the protesters’ actions.
**Warning from Deputy Minister**
Deputy Minister Darakhvelidze warned and called on the protest participants to express their protests within the limits permitted by law. He said that if they don’t do this, the Ministry of Internal Affairs will take all measures provided for by law to de-escalate the situation.
