The Dimitri Shevardnadze National Gallery hosted a retrospective of Temo Makavariani from July 5 until September 1. Machavariani, a well-known Georgian painter (1944-2019), is known for his expressive landscapes that depict his hometown and family portraits. The gallery’s first exhibition of Machavariani, which featured 60 of his works, was a showcase of his work.
Machavariani, a graduate of the Tbilisi State Arts Academy has exhibited his works extensively, not only in Georgia, but also abroad, including the UK, Spain and Azerbaijan.
Machavariani said, “To create a great painting, sincerity comes first.” This exhibition is a significant contribution towards his legacy and place within Georgian culture and art.
