European leaders are very critical of the current situation in Georgia. This was stated by Dimitri Tskitishvili, leader of the For Georgia party.
Tskitishvili spoke to the media after meeting with Rasa Juknevičienė, a European Parliament official who monitors Georgia’s situation. The discussion did not focus on penalties (sanctions) for Georgia. However, it was agreed that some countries might take their own actions against Georgia’s ruling party, Georgian Dream.
These actions could include continuing to ignore and isolate the party at the national level. Tskitishvili warned that the decisions of Georgian Dream are likely to worsen the situation and put the benefits Georgia has gained from its relationship with Europe at risk.
When asked about a plan for new elections proposed by Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili, Tskitishvili stated that elements of her plan have been previously discussed among opposition parties. He emphasized the importance of international observers being involved in any election process to ensure fairness and transparency.
