**Georgian Diplomats Speak Out Against EU Accession Halt**
A group of diplomats from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have issued a joint statement criticizing Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze‘s announcement to stop Georgia’s EU accession process.
The diplomats emphasize their commitment to Georgia’s European aspirations and warn that halting the process risks isolating the country. They note that Georgian diplomats have been working tirelessly for years to achieve European and Euro-Atlantic integration, and that the decision to suspend the accession process does not align with the country’s strategic interests.
The diplomats argue that the current window of opportunity for EU integration is unprecedented and may never arise again. They stress that rejecting this chance will leave Georgia isolated and vulnerable to threats in an increasingly complex international security environment.
The statement also references Article 78 of the Constitution of Georgia, which requires the government to pursue European and Euro-Atlantic integration. The diplomats reiterate their commitment to this course and urge the government to reconsider its decision.
