**Parliament to Discuss New Law**
The Georgian Parliament‘s Committee on Legal Issues will meet on March 3 to consider a new law. This is the first step in making the law official.
**Language Concerns Raised**
However, there are concerns about the language used in the law. The Parliament’s Legal Department says that the Georgian translation contains mistakes and does not match the original US version of the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA).
**What the Law Covers**
The new law aims to regulate several issues:
* Defining who is considered a foreign agent
* Registering foreign agents
* Requiring registered foreign agents to be transparent about their activities
* Making sure foreign agents submit financial reports annually
* Canceling the registration of foreign agents if needed
* Monitoring and enforcing compliance with the law
* Punishing those who evade registration or break the law
**MPs Behind the Bill**
The MPs from Georgian Dream and People’s Power are behind this bill.
